The World Sucks

Get up a half-hour earlier than usual for a day at EvilWoman's place.
Get the rent wad out of the gun cabinet.
Load TowerZilla into car.
Drive to bank, withdraw rest of rent.
Drive to supermarket, pay 25¢ for money order (bank wants some outrageous amount like $3.something). Turn away in disgust at the quarter-hour-long line of parasites cashing their welfare checks at the Customer Service counter.
FFFFUUUUUU.
Drive to another supermarket, turn away in greater disgust at even longer line.
FFFFFUUUUUUUU.
Drive to third supermarket which charges 75¢. I brought exactly $390.25 with me, so now I have to use my bank card to buy a candy bar and get a couple bucks cash back from the self-checkout machine.
FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.
Stand in not-quite-as-long line at customer service desk, including someone who'd already had his first six-pack of the day. It's about 9:25am.
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.
Finally buy money order for rent. Scribble where indicated, stuff same in prepared envelope.
Drive to post office, put rent in mail.
Drive to EvilWoman's, clean gutters spread mulch-resulting-from-chipping-of-yard-debris to stabilize muddy driveway.

Sigh... but I had Nomgolian Grill for lunch and, I made Great Progress in getting TowerZilla up to speed. More on that In Lighter News.

The heads begin to roll in Project Gunwalker.

I Repeat: "Domestic Terrorists" wear badges, not NRA bumper stickers.

It's All Related: SavaShip reports persecution in Illinois, and Codrea does a column.

LoyalReader is not dead! And he sends HOLY EFFING ESS THOMAS JEFFERSON INVENTED THE ENIGMA MACHINE!!!11!!!!ELEBENTY!!!

Ill. Assn. of Chiefs of Police Support Legalizing Concealed Carry Proposal? That... is illogical. Based on all previous experience. It don't make no sense. And it's not even dated April 1st. -Hoffman gets the Ideological Purity Award on this story: "...I don't believe that the right to armed self-defense can legitimately be made conditional on the support of law enforcement." We don't have to show you any steenking permit.

Modular ambidextrous AR upper. I am quite right-handed when it comes to shooting, though I do get some left-handed dry practice with handguns sometimes. But interesting, a way to ambidextrize your otherwise-standard AR.

Forgotten Weapons has Paratrooper Pr0n. So to speak. -I actually like the looks of the first model, with the sharply-angled pistol grip. Dunno about real-world ergonomics, never encountered one in the flesh, but Teutonic Thoroughness of Design suggests much.

As usual, MSM screws up the headline. That's not a "loss of temper". I think not boxing the cretin's ears was a display of considerable restraint. -I have not watched Selleck's new cop-stroking TV show, nor intend to. And he is in fact losing some points of Ideological Purity thereby, as loyal readers of this-my-'blog can well imagine. But for his particular reaction in this case, I have nothing but praise.

While at EvilWoman's, I set up TowerZilla and commenced to fiddlin'. SMLE Fan's previous donation included a Belkin 802.11g card, for which I've had little use since there are no unsecured signals in range of the hovel, but EvilWoman's place is also a WiFi spot and they gave me their key. Except, XP Pro 64 won't recognize the 32-bit drivers which came with the Belkin card, and Belkin offers nothing but 32-bit drivers on their website for this card. Fortunately the Almighty Internet, with some digging, provided instructions for using a particular RALink driver instead, since apparently this model of Belkin card used the same chip - and then Windows started downloading ninety six Windows Updates, AVG got recognized and integrated and updated, and much awesomeness ensued. TowerZilla's OS is pretty much installed now, and the next step is to physically transplant my Delta and Echo drives from the old box, and my DVD burner, and paintakingly copy the Address Book and .DBX files with all my saved emails in Outlook Express yes-I-still-use-it. Then I start tweaking the browsers and folder preferences and installing VLC and PDR9 and that addictive backgammon game and....
2847 Saturday, 2 April 2011:

The World Sucks

FFFFFFUUUUUUUU

The transplant has been largely successful, TowerZilla is physically complete, but she does not have enough power. The beep code is, according to the manual, a power error. I had to unplug power from the SATA DVD and one IDE HDD, and from all the chassis fans and half the chassis LEDs, to get it to boot XP.

It was giving the same beep code at EvilWoman's place, strongly implying the problem is not necessarily in the hovel's wiring but in the 350W power supply. The 600W (? It says "MODEL: PW-600") p/s originally sent with 'Zilla won't work either, since it has only 20-pin mainboard power and the new board requires all 24, to say nothing of the other connectors for fans and drives and all.

In fact, even though Delta drive, which contains the files for this website you're reading, is plugged in and presumably spinning, it's not recognized in Windows. So I'm typing this in Notepad after fetching the source from the actual server hosted by Yuri. Fortunately WsFTP made it across and is functioning, but I can't even install CuteHTML 'cause the self-extracting archive is incompatible with 64-bit.

The operation was a success but the patient remains bedridden. What's needed now, I guess, is a more powerful power supply, and very possibly a UPS to smooth it out. And that's a bunch of bucks I don't have in either case. Furthermore, due to physical space restrictions inside the chassis, the power supply has to be the normal small sorta square size, not one of the long beasts.

Eventually I'll need a hotter video card too, since even Notepad is creeping across the screen as I scroll through this .HTML file.

ARGH! It's 1:20am at the hovel and I'm going to bed. Tomorrow I guess I'll have to put Delta and Echo drives back into the old HP box and continue using that until the power shortage can be addressed.

FFFFFFUUUUUUUU

The above was typed on, and uploaded from, TowerZilla herself. Now I've reversed much of the surgery and put the two IDE-drives-full-of-my-stuff back in the old HP box (which, BTW, has a 200W semi-proprietary supply, so there's no help there). Sigh. I'm also concerned about the IDE drives not being recognized at all on the new board, even though a spare IDE DVDROM worked on the same cable and socket during setup - possibly another power issue. I guess I'll shop for more parts.... for example. -Ya know I have that much left on the prepaid Visa from the Cricket-payment fiasco, not counting shipping. I'll wait for another free shipping special from Geeks and see if it applies. As for a UPS (the hovel wiring may also still be suspect), something like this perhaps, but without a effin' job that would have to wait.

Gunwalker spinnnn....

The system is beyond broken. It is fundamentally illegitimate.

Not to forget Big Brother - Eric illustrates: If the doctor is forced to ask the question, how can it be "free speech"?

Rand Paul sez, "We have to stand for something, and we have to mean it." Sounds good, but what do the "mainstream" candidates have? "Blahblah Compromise blahblah Bipartisan blahblah Cooperation nudgewink See you in Hyannisport." Talk about Beltway Fever - even our alleged "conservative" "protectors" are not capable of recognizing us, their employers, as human beings. Their minds don't work right either. Allen West, Rand Paul, and the tragic handful of their kind are the only pols who don't make me queasy at the mention of their names.

The rest keep saying "government shutdown" like it's a bad thing....

When I said, "Effin' tsunami shoulda hit the Potomac", this is not what I meant. The cartoon is wrong; the parasites aren't the ones getting soaked.

Perspective: Illustrated. "THIS... is Main Stream Media. I'm Biff Demagogue. Tonight: Over ten thousand human beings were swept out to sea along with the Japanese economy but who cares? ZOMFG RADIAAYYSHUN WE'RE ALL GONNA DIIIIEEEE!!!! After the break, the heartwarming tale of a blind three-legged puppy rescued from a sewer!" And they wonder why their ratings slip.

Looka that. Some people actually think Mama Gaia cares, or even notices, if we drive SUVs or have a wood fireplace. That was Mother Terra flicking an eyelash. We're those little microscopic mite thingies. She rolls over in her sleep, we're all squished, and no amount of windmills or compact flourescent bulbs will make the slightest difference.

Remember, we're the knuckle-dragging bigots and the Left is tolerant, inclusive, and compassionate.

And civil and non-violent too!

Meanwhile in Gun Control Paradise Illinois, how's that working out for you? Their minds don't work right. Every, every solution they propose has the opposite of the "intended" effect. Which makes sane people seriously question what the intended effect is.

Speaking of sane people, VDH comments on the other kind: "It is always a dangerous thing for a president to start a war without Congress, without a consistent mission, without a coherent methodology, without a plausible end game, and without a clue who our rebel allies are...."

Speaking of Libya, a few times recently I've said, "Screw Libya. There's nothing in there worth another American's life." And ya know? Screw Europe too.

Today I repaired an old Singer Model 237 sewing machine, mainly by taking an emery board to some arc-eroded contacts in the foot-throttle and adjusting the motor position to correct the belt tension. Then I moved more stuff into the attic. A few bucks here, a few bucks there....

Project Gunwalker gets more press.

Disarmament kills. Don't take my word for it, nor Hoffman's neither, look at history. Count the pyramids of skulls. And remember it the next time someone tells you "You don't need a gun."

Why is there no civil war in Britain? There damn well oughta be by now.

Project Gunwalker. Hoffman asks: "...[D]oes anyone think giving these rogue lunatics more autonomy is a good idea?"

Aaand cops still hate citizens and want them to die.

What was that definition of tyranny again? Oh yeah: something that's legal for government but illegal for citizens.

Speaking of RINOs and NOTA, I'd already made up my mind to stay home and clean my guns on election day if they put up Huckabee. Last time, Sarah was the only reason I didn't. -You know how hard it is to fill out a mail-in ballot while holding your nose?

No, not this one neither.

Just yesterday I linked charts illustrating how screwed the economy is. Radio news today, RINO Speaker of the House Boehner proudly announces "$12 billion in reductions". That's like ordering the Triple Whopper with Extra Cheese, Double Bacon, Jumbo Fries and Super Onion Rings... and a diet Coke.

And they're still saying "government shutdown" like it's a bad thing.

I'm not sleeping too good, ya know?

Oh there are plenty of "laws" all right. And nonsensical discriminatory "policies" with the force of law.

And the parasites who wrote them keep saying "government shutdown" like it's a bad thing.

Recently I linked an article on a state supreme court election in Wisconsin. Michael G. sends more, and sez: "The theories are (1) the left believes the Republicans produced fake votes out of thin air to steal the election. (Projection, much?) (2) The Republicans deliberately concealed the size of their lead until after the Democratic strongholds were done counting so the Democrats wouldn't know how many votes they needed to fake. 2857 Tuesday, 12 April 2011:

No money earned at EvilWoman's place today, but I got my laundry done and had lunch.

Apparently, BATFU's official response to all the Project Gunwalker allegations is the time-proven classic "Hey! Look over there!" -From comments: "...if you hear the midnight knock, I guess it's time to shoot through the door first and ask questions after." Are the badgethugs on the other side of your door going to give that a moment's thought, before we start killing them in self-defense? Is that what it will take? Oh sure, they already have the tactics, massive presence, gas, overwhelming deadly force, "department supports the officer's actions", "officer followed department protocol" by setting a nine-year-old girl on fire with a grenade before shooting her to death in her own bed - but for the bazilliontyth time I point to the real problem: they still think they're the GOOD guys. They cannot comprehend that they are not only on the wrong side, they are the wrong side.

Today is the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the First American Civil War. I can see the Second from here.

Oakland GRE takes on the usual hyperbole and lies about "assault weapons".

Hoffman reports on the usual contempt and bigotry in Illinois.

Speaking of bigots, the usual ones try to outlaw self-defense in Washington.

And simple oppression in Oregon. With rare exceptions, everyone in government hates citizens and wants them to die. They do not recognize us as human beings. Our nation of sheep has begotten a government not only of wolves, but of sociopaths.

It's all related: The only thing it's ever been about is control. They are not capable of seeing you as a human being. To them, you are at best a domestic animal, or even a disposable cardboard cutout.

I mean it. "It’s not about stopping terrorists, it’s about appearing to do something while mainly protecting your job."

All the way to the top. Alvie at the Cliffs has the visual aid.

And TSA too. Again I express my disgust at the alarming lack of airport riots and lynched gropers.

Well- did I say "prosecute"? Like we can trust the system. I suppose direct action will be required.

SWAT teams? "[A] very malignant, rapidly spreading cancer." Sadists and sociopaths, all. But they still think they're the good guys.

"Every time there's a shooting, they want to take guns away from the people who didn't do it." Every. Time.

Government makes everything worse forever. I've heard of this before: Britain proposes ban on fire extinguishers as "safety hazard". You can't make this stuff up.

"1911 to 1961 saw manned flight go from... the Wright Brothers to a man orbiting the Earth. The fifty since - with a short detour.... We've gone from man orbiting the planet to man orbiting the planet." I haz a sad.

I am reminded again of chatroom Elf Treb bragging about ham harvesting. Get some Sierra #2200 GameKings, work up a new load for the Queen, bring the 1911 for backup, the flat-point cast bullets I'm using for action shooting should suffice.... I'm sure there's a meat processor somewhere who'll work for percentages, bring him X critters, he keeps Y/X as payment for processing the rest....

Still no income. Stress....

Project Gunwalker....

Speaking of psychotic sociopathic government not recognizing citizens as human beings whose lives have value, back here was a suggestion of how thoroughly power can corrupt. Now I learn it has happened before. Prohibition ALWAYS causes more harm than it prevents. But the only solution the tax-paid sociopaths ever have is, "Do it again, harder!"

"Mitt Romney is too much like Barack Obama. I don't see how he'd win the 2012 GOP nod because he's got too much in common with the guy he wants to replace." ...No, Deb, that's how he's going to win the nomination. Ain't'choo been payin' attention? And I will stay home and clean my rifle on election day toss the mail-in ballot in the shredder.

The world does suck and it makes me sad. What would cheer me up? (Aside from winning lottery tickets?) TSA agents' corpses swinging from every streetlight along Airport Way. That would make me happy.

Theft Day. (Correia gets his fangs out.) (And I haz a sad.) Got mine done online last month. The Flat Tax or Fair Tax is becoming more attractive to me, though even the 10% figure smells excessive. First we must gut spending. I spelled that right - eviscerate, disembowel. Spending splattered all over the waaaallllss, spending dripping from the ceiling. Like the old bumper sticker, "Help starve a feeding bureaucrat." At least 90% of what government steals from us is wasted. An obscene percentage of that percentage isn't even wasted in this country.

But, like Edward G. Robinson in Key Largo talking about bringing back Prohibition, the parasites at all levels of government and both "sides" of the aisle will go to any length to keep their personal gravy train rolling. Still think we can vote our way out of this?

Wolverton pins tomorrow, I used to never miss it. Out of the que$tion at pre$ent, I don't even have rent yet. And with my luck I'll be getting another water/sewer/garbage bill in the mail, like, tomorrow.

Aaaand cops still hate citizens and want them to die. I do grow weary of repetition. Theirs and mine both.

SAF increments Massachusetts. They've been doing the thousand-cuts thing to us for a hundred years.

Forgotten Weapons has the Random Awesome o' the Day. I remember Ian Hogg writing about it. L. Neil Smith gave one to one of his characters in The Probability Broach.

In email, a reloading question:

I recently came upon a 100 round box of brand new Star line .45 Colt blank (and so marked) cases that have the enlarged flash hole.

My usual Cowboy Action load is 6.0 grains of Trail Boss and and a Laser cast 200 gr. bullet or 25 grains of FFFg black powder and a 200 grain SPG lubed hand cast bullet.

Both loads are primed with a Winchester pistol primer.

Will I run into pressure trouble or any other problems using these cases because of the large flash hole?

I do not have an answer. Since my reloading pages are this website's only source of revenue - which I hope LuckyGunner will be renewing next month, if I can make it that far - I try to helpfully answer every reloading question I get. My first thought is, Trail Boss was specifically desgned to minimize pressure, and blackpower pressures are almost always lower than any smokeless equivalent, so he probably won't have pressure issues with these cases - also, I've seen many Federal .45ACP cases with oversize flash holes, picked up at ranges from factory Ball rounds, though I haven't tried any myself. Furthermore Starline is the prestige brand for brass, yah? The next obvious questions are, what weapons will these rounds be fired in, not that it should matter much, but the concern would be primers backing out, not due to excess pressure but more of the normal pressure being applied through the oversize flash hole. This could cause jams, locking up a revolver or lever-action rifle; in the worst case, gas and debris leakage and possible injury. Quite possibly there's an economic issue here, the man may be on a budget and can't afford to just order a sack of 500 from Midway, so he'd be scrounging every case he can find - and .45 Colt is a lot less likely to be abandoned in the local range's brass bucket than .45ACP. What are your thoughts?

Nearly half through Drake & co.'s Battlestations; hardly started Anderson's Captain Flandry; haven't started Flint & Wentworth's Crucible of Empire. Tuesday-ish I'll be setting them all aside to read long-awaited new Kratman.

Braved the Big Expo Show today, with EvilWoman and Sketchaycat, the latter doing the Laying-On of Hands. A single-column 1911 with thin grips might do, or a P35 likewise dressed, while the CZ75 didn't fit quite as well as hoped. She also quite liked the Ruger .22 pistols, perhaps for the angle. Stumbled into LoyalReader there as well.

$igh. So much stuff, so little money. One vendor had a very nice Mosin 91/30, with bayonet and accessories, for $150. I had to liquidate my last Mosin a few months ago. :(

I dislike the big Expo show. Crowds, extortionate parking and admission, badges prowling the aisles - I get queasy being anywhere near one of those animals, I know what they are. (In fact I'm still coming down off the fight-or-flight thing. Eeeyyuugghh.) But the big show does have selection, stuff a shopper can hold in one's hands before blowing half a grand.

The World Sucks

Pournelle has the Worldsuckage o' the Day. Gods we are so screwed.

More condescension and bigotry, from West Virginia now. As usual, "Law enforcement officials don’t like the idea" of citizens being able to defend themselves. -The same law enforcement officials who are exempt from restrictions on being armed while in places which serve alcohol. So taxpaying citizens being able to defend their own lives is baaaad, but DRUNKEN TAX-PAID COPS WITH GUNS ARE OKAY.

(Cops still don't understand, or even wonder, why they are hated. Their minds can't stretch that far.)

Aaaaand the inmates are running the asylum. This may be the most psychotic government since the Aztecs were carving folks' hearts out.

...I probably shouldn't have typed that out loud. Don't give 'em ideas. Algore probably already has sketches for a pyramid....

And a feather headdress....

We can't vote our way out anymore. It's too late.

Facepalm o' the Day. Tell me again why we're even in NATO? Aside from the part where we are NATO....

Aaaand cops. No one becomes a cop to help people. That's not the kind of people they are. People become cops because they like to cause suffering.

Reloading questions answered: At the last ACSWW show was a vendor of reloaded ammunition, and they had a quantity of .45ACP with Small primers, in CCI Blazer brass this time - but that's a sister company of Speer, right? They said it was from police ranges, originally using lead-free eco-freak primers, much as I suspected.

As for the .45 Colt blank cases, LoyalReader points out the manufacturer says explicitly they are not to be used for live rounds.

Michael G. sends a surprisingly unbigoted NYT article about arms on campus.

LoyalReader sends National Feral Swine Mapping System. And there are some in central Oregon, hmm.

2864 Tuesday, Patriot's Day, 19 April 2011:

ON THIS DAY.

There's another anniversary on this day: "Leibe Gott, die Juden haben waffen!"

The World Sucks

Still no cursed job. Got a haircut though.

Codrea's back, with a Project Gunwalker refresher. Also see.

Don't forget the other domestic enemies. They can't stand the idea of anyone doing anything without permission.

All we want is to be left alone.

But nnoooooo, they won't leave us alone. "What Bad Guy wouldn't want to get access to that" federal government database of internet user IDs? Um... the Bad Guys are the ones proposing it.

But they're absolutely convinced they're the good guys....

Hey, cops? If I ever see one of you in trouble? I'm going to turn my back and walk away smirking while you die. Because you deserve it.

Speaking of sociopaths who think they're the good guys, the eco-freaks are trying to kill you.

From Patriot Post, Quote o' the Day: "To take from one, because it is thought his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, the guarantee to everyone the free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it." - Thomas Jefferson, letter to Joseph Milligan, 1816

But what do I hear on the radio? Hussein sez, "We cannot spend more than we take in" and the solution is "shared responsibility". So his solution is not to spend less, but to steal more. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MESS YOU'VE CREATED, YOU PSYCHOTIC KLEPTOMANIAC!

Government Schools Need More Money!!!1!!!eleven!!! Do they really now? Einstein defined insanity as "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

In Lighter News

Anti-gun folks' minds don't work right. Something bad happens, and they blame everyone and everything that didn't do it. (Just like Hussein & co. somehow believing we should pay for their disastrous spending and parasitic entitlements.) Any means then become justified by the end they seek, no one else's rights or lives matter to them. An illustrative analogy can be seen in this 1967 anime.

Remember the Free State Project in New Hampshire? Constitutional Carry. Live Free or Die, baby.

Yes, Ruger has a 1911. (I am pleasantly surprised there isn't a three-page-triplicate disclaimer stamped on the slide....) Anyway, I'm good, thanks. -Does anyone remember when Rugers were the affordable option? For the MSRP of an SR1911, I could probably get two Cheap Philippine Clones, if I shopped around enough, or just one and a whole lot of magazines and cartridges and IPSC match fees. -Ah, one significant improvement: integral plunger tube, okay.

In the new American Rifleman, cover article on the Ruger Scout. No finger-click adjustments for the rear sight? Sure it's only supposed to be backup to the optics but c'mon, how hard can it be to make a miniature A2 or Garand type? Full-page ad for the Taurus 800 series, which I think I said several moons ago would be really interesting if they weren't made of plastic. How hard, how expensive, can it be to make one out of steel? There are customers who don't like plastic, will not have plastic, shalt not suffer plastic to live. Full-page ad for Kimber Solo, which has an atractive soap-bar look to it - the trigger looks DAO, which I think would be quite proper, like the original Kahrs before they went plastic, but the text says it's single-action - well, Saint John made a whole family of pocket pistols that way. Except I'm boycotting Kimber for their habit of making sociopath-specific models. LaPierre's column, and feature ILA article, on Gunwalker, giving no credit at all to Vanderboegh and Codrea, instead praising a tax-paid BATFU agent who actually looked in the mirror for a couple seconds, once - and how many lives has he destroyed, how many families has he bankrupted with attorneys' fees, in his career before then? Article by aviation author Barrett Tillman on modern Army riflery, specifically the lack thereof, hmm, also mentioning a certain battle where it mattered. Review of the Chiappa Rhino - dudes, lose the rail. Or at least make it bolt-on.

Starting Kratman's The Amazon Legion. Tasty.

There have been some outages at the TRGG family, which includes this site, SMLE Fan (who's actually been posting lately), and Yuri who set up our domains. For future reference, it's probably routine maintenance on the servers in some other time zone, and will usually clear up in a few hours. "An unlimited power to tax involves, necessarily, a power to destroy; because there is a limit beyond which no institution and no property can bear taxation." - John Marshall, McCullough v. Maryland, 1819. And Hussein is working very hard to find that limit.

("Hussein", I say? What about eight years of DUBYADUBYADUBYADUBYADUBYA? Never mind what color it is, this one has the thinnest skin of any "president" in American history.)

(Oh but we're the ones who are mean, cruel, heartless, tastless, and rude. Suuuure.)

(Oh, and sexist! Don't forget sexist!)

Stossel identifies the domestic terrorists.

There is no difference between cops and what they claim to be "protecting" us from. Every time I see a cop, my hand itches for a weapon. I know what they are.

They're psychotic sociopaths, that's what they are. Out of touch with reality. Their bullets are all too real, though. Helluva epitaph, shot (five times in the back...) for trying to stay dry.

"Anyone who feels a need to carry a gun for protection is paranoid and delusional (and compensating for a small penis)!" Yeah. Sure. Whatever.

Lying psychotic sociopathic bigots. "And the 911 tape is where?"

Speaking of armed-robbery-in-uniform, this story needs more coverage.

Because cops hate citizens and want them to die.

Government only knows how to steal. Chapter MMDCCCLXVI.

From comments: "The willful blindness of liberal ideology...."

Evil Party is Evil. You can't tax your way into prosperity. Goose? Golden egg? Never heard of 'em. -At the club meeting last night, the treasurer pointed out how, when they cut table rent by 1/3, they had more people renting tables and total revenues went up. We know that's how it works. It's been proven countless times throughout history! Anyone telling you different is either mentally ill or lying in your face! No one can honestly be that ignorant! You have to work at it!

Buuuut the Stupid Party is still stupid. Bah.

Last night LoyalReader dragged me off to the club meeting (I've been asked to be the newsletter editor), and treated me to dinner at Golden Tent. Mongolian is my favorite; the usual is the Chang's chain, but this standalone, while arranged much the same, seems to tend less-crowded, and has a small side-buffet with extra prepared foods. NOM. Furthermore they had (three) actual weapons on the walls, a sort-of-falchion-looking sword, a bow presumably of the Mongol laminated design, and an abbreviated crossbow. According to the business card there's another site in Salem.

Another anniversary.

Codrea, Vanderboegh & co. get the message out. New Media, baby. Can't stop the signal.

Another school shooting... program.

This is the kind of rifle shooting I do the most. Except with less equipment. I hope to make such matches on 14 May, 11 June, 9 July, 27 August, and 13 & 19 November. For a few months in 2009, I was in the top 100 for the whole US.

Ya know - reading news reports of wrong-address-shoot-the-dog-and-taser-set-fire-to-the-kids drug raids, and home invasions by thugs who dress like cops, like there's a difference - this appeals to me. Sunk into a hillside, ya know? In Wyoming.

Long day with friends, back late. Skipping the full blogtrawl tonight, you know where to go. A few items:

The other day I wondered how long it would be until the next conveniently-distracting episode of domestic terrorism, mass murder, or foreign war. I'm hearing... entirely too much about Syria lately. Hussein was elected by the hippies to end two wars. Instead, he's started a third and is eyeing a fourth.

...But it's us eee-vill conserrrvatives who are the bloodthirsty warmongers, riiiight. "IDON'TCAREOBAMAISAWESOMEYOU'REARAAAACIST!!!"

Hey, how about a fifth? The hundred-year basket-case that is Mexico is thinking of suing the American firearms industry over all the military hardware said industry doesn't make and isn't sending to Mexico. Psy. Chotic.

"McCain: Increase military support to Libyan rebels". No! NONONONONONO! Let them slaughter each other! There will be fewer left to murder us!

In Lighter News

I will never, can never, trust a cop of any kind. But Codrea has perspective.

2868 Saturday, 23 April 2011:

The World Sucks

Gunwalker. Firehand connects some dots.

In Washington on Friday, President Barack Obama condemned the latest use of force by Syria against anti-government demonstrators and said the regime's "outrageous" use of violence must "end now." As. I. Predicted. Never mind the entire American economy self-destructing and our Constitution going in the shredder, let's start another foreign war!

Or how about a domestic one? "...[T]he Fourth Amendment... was intended precisely to stop this sort of governmental abuse...." Why are we not hanging cops from streetlights?

Cops everywhere are one kind of sociopath or another - often several at once. European reader sends: France's riot police have complained about being "treated like children" following a new ban on drinking alcohol while on duty.

Yeah. You read that right. While in this country, cops oppose letting taxpaying citizens, who have passed more background checks than any cop, carry personal-defense weapons, with an FBI-cleared permit (not to forget that permits are infringement), into any establishment which serves alcohol - while those same cops are exempt from the same ban. -Looky, I'm anti-prohibitionist; if, for example, someone wrecks my car while driving drunk, I want him punished, and myself compensated, for wrecking my car, not for drinking. It's the utterly shameless hypocrisy which turns my stomach.

This is the kind of people drawn to that kind of work. Police should not EXIST. Most cops, and TSA agents, should face the death penalty, under the law.

But they still think they're the good guys.

And the Only Ones Professional Enough.

They're really not. Police are the enemies of civilization. They set themselves up as an unaccountable, uncontrollable, incontestable ruling elite, whose mere word is "law". They claim the ancient "divine" "right" of kings, to arbitrarily rob and murder anyone, anywhere, anytime, for whatever reason they choose or none at all. We've overthrown such tyrants before. We will need to again.

Earth Day? Let its proponents speak for themselves. Example: "Everything we have developed over the last 100 years should be destroyed."

Who's "racist"? ..[T]he Obama presidency [has]... “Set race relations back a hundred years. Who will trust a black man now?”

And what are our options?

In Lighter News

Well here's one: Gary Johnson for President. I might-could get behind that. Not the first time I've looked at him.

Fascinating article on the evolution of assault rifles and their cartridges.

The anti-self-defense loons might have finally gone too far.

We're not the ones who are "nuts".

Official astronaut knife. I've seen one before.

2869 Easter Sunday, 24 April 2011:

The World Sucks

There is no justice. Only "law". 'It doesn't matter that he has committed no crimes, and has not been charged with a crime. A Connecticut judge told him at a hearing that Reddy had no right to an attorney and that "I'm ready to rule" to take his guns away before the patriotic organizer had the chance to say one word in his defense.' And remember, "crime" is whatever some thug with a badge says it is, and "guilt" is whatever some unstable freak in robes feels like. If you're not terrified you're not paying attention.

Why should we cooperate with "law" under any circumstances? When the least that will happen is armed robbery in uniform and there is an increasing probability of being summarily murdered? Cops are the BAD guys. The entire system is evil and illegitimate. Why should we not immediately open fire when we see blue lights in the mirror? What have we got to lose?

To paraphrase Reagan, unions are not the solution, unions are the problem.

More of the same bigotry in California.

And more yet from "mainstream" "media".

Guilty even if proven innocent, Chapter MMDCCCLXX. The way the system is supposed to work is, they gather evidence, build a case, and then kidnap you at gunpoint. These days it's completely backward, and includes entirely too much attempted-murder-first-and-making-something-up-later. Just like any third-world dictatorship. Cops are NOT the GOOD guys.

Michael G. sends a choking hazard. Not small parts, small minds.

UPPITY. With safety in numbers I might consider attending such an event; I'm for it, I'd spend money-if-I-had-any to support it, I'm just afraid of getting Erik Scotted. ...Especially without a chance to shoot back. As described, a chamber flag wouldn't bother me (much) either, so long as a full magazine was close to hand, as it was there. Increments, you know? This time with so-and-so rules, next time with fewer restrictions, just the reverse of what the parasites have been doing to us for a hundred years. But the lesson I find here is Know Your Weapon. Methinks people whining about chamber flags need more dry practice, and should RTFM for their chosen instrument. I've grumped this grump before, about matches, Appleseeds, or just regular range days - people fumbling with something their way around which they should know but don't.

(IIRC, the field-strip-blindfolded thing was invented by Saint John Himself, as a marketing gimmick for one of his early machineguns. And it worked.)

The place where Britain used to be. Long overdue for civil war.

A bloody, bloody civil war. Heads on spikes on London Bridge. Example: farmer threatened, on her farm, by four armed men. She calls the cops, and they take her guns away.

Tyranny is defined as that which is legal for government and illegal for citizens.

"We pay lip service to the idea that people are innocent until proven guilty, but midnight raids by militarized police put the lie to that."

"Colling, of course, remains on duty...."

Paying too much for fuel? Government Makes Everything Worse Forever. -And there hasn't been a new refinery built in this country for, what, 30 years? 40?

SMLE Fan and others point out the latest jackbootedthuggery, with the twist that it's the tax-eaters and not the tax-payers getting tax-funded weapons shoved in their faces for a change. I do not expect policy to change - the tax-paid thugs can still do whatever they want to us with tax-funded impunity.

And they think they're the good guys. Cops are sociopaths. They see us, not as human beings, but as paid vacations waiting to happen. They don't "protect and serve" anyone but themselves. Police are a clear and present danger to public safety.

"...[N]ot everything illegal is immoral and not everything legal is moral. " Just as I've said, "legal" doesn't mean "right" and "illegal" doesn't mean "wrong". ...Jericho was a really good show. With that kid smuggling in the second season.

Remember the Springfield EMP? A compact 1911 with a reduced frame size, in 9x19mm. At the time I suggested a full-size model, for racing for example, which would fit women's smaller hands. Finally there is such a thing, though it's horribly expensive. Again I contemplate the concept of fabbers - with modern CNC equipment (after the capital investment), production and labor costs plummet.

Kratman's The Amazon Legion is not least a treatise on the philosophy of military training. One figures a man with the CIB and Ranger tab knows what he's talking about. -The Balboan system is not the one I would use. But it looks like it could work, and the two do have some bits in common.

Lunatics run asylum, Chapter MMDCCCLXXIII.

And the system we're supposed to "work within" has no legitimacy.

Remember the Beslan attack? Massad Ayoob does an article warning of another here, but I found the comments interesting. Like the commenters, I am far more afraid of police than of Islamic or any other kind of terrorists. Police are domestic terrorists.

"Of course no police officer would ever plant evidence, just as no police officer would ever abuse an innocent man in the heat of the moment, realize his mistake, and work to justify his behavior by getting the suspect to confess to something. And I have an unusual real estate offer just for you." When's the last time you heard about any contact with any law enforcement officer ending without someone getting robbed and/or kidnapped at gunpoint? There is no presumption of innocence. Why should we not shoot cops on sight in righteous and logical self-defense? Just like rabid dogs?

The main reason I rarely shopped at WalMart was the crowds. I hate crowds. But there are other reasons to boycott the place - and not the ones the statist collectivist redistributionist moonbats are constantly bleating.

2875 Saturday, 30 April 2011: I am constantly amazed at the generosity and plain niceness of my fellow gunfolk. Last night LoyalReader showed up with cash for my entry to today's IPSC shoot at Wolverton, a promise to buy me a tank of fuel after, and a brand-spankin'-new-in-the-box Thermaltake 600W power supply for TowerZilla, whose transplant will be underway (again) as you read this.

Bigotry and discrimination in Salem. "Work within the system," they decree. They know the system works only for them. We know it too. What's the logical next step?

More, and more active, discrimination in Kentucky, with actual measurable harm inflicted on the victim. The circumstances were similar to my own armed-robbery-under-color-of-authority. There is no justice, nor any appeal to "law". Even mentioning the founding documents of this nation, let alone believing in and exercising their principles, will get a citizen labeled, and treated, as a criminal terrorist, by terrorist criminals with badges.

"The scariest thing about dealing with police is that at any time any one of them for whatever reason they invent, can make you pay the ultimate price, and they will never be held accountable for your murder."

"Violent anti-government extremists", they call us. Self-fulfilling prophecy. All we want is to be left alone.

Government "health" "care"? Reminder. We know how it will "work".

Speaking of the unspeakable cesspit where Britain used to be, remember the farmer who, when threatened by violent ruffians, called the cops and was robbed by the police? Firehand is so disgusted he can't even cuss about it. And American cops are increasingly acting the same way. There is no difference between cops and what they're supposed to be "protecting" us from. I would rather live in a world without police. It would be safer and healthier for everyone.

Good point. I haz a ambivalence.

Again my Cheap Philippine Clonetm worked flawlessly, with McCormick magazines, Winchester powder and primers, scrounged brass from all makers, and bullets cast from whatever lead I could scrape off the ground, cast in a Lee mold, lubed with Lee Liquid Alox and sized with the Lee sizing die as directed, using a mix of Lee and second-hand gun show dies on a Lee Load Master press (though the even-less-expensive Pro 1000 will work just as well). You do not need a $1,500 Kimber or dollar-a-shot premium factory ammunition to do this, nor do you need an $800 Dillon to make your own.
